Overslept and took a taxi down to Kallang today. The journey took 20min and cost me $9.
My bicycle ride to Kallang takes only 30min.
What the hell? I know that cycling is faster than taking a bus after factoring time spent waiting for the bus. But, I never expected a car to be only 10min faster than cycling. Score one for cycling!
But cycling also has its overheads like cooling down and changing up.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if you consider the time spent is for exercising, then can see it as 0 minutes spent on travelling :)
I used to ride from TPY to NTU which is about 70 minutes while feeder+MRT+179+walking is about 90 minutes.
Overheads such as cooling down and changing dont really affect me. I usually cycle to Kallang or Pasir Ris to do canoeing/kayaking.
ReplyDeleteI simply cycle to and fro in my wet attire and take the commute as a warm up.
You must have a really scenic or stress-free route to enjoy such a long commute.
I used to find my 45min ride from Hougang to SIM too stressful to really enjoy.
Not all stress-free, such as Bukit Timah Road and Boon Lay Way between Jurong East and Boon Lay MRT (if during peak hours). If tired, will take a break at coffee shop at Jalan Jurong Kechil.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine your route which were mainly older roads with many shophouses along the road and thus many activities and cars/lorries stop/park along those roads.
