Critical Mass Singapore

From the guy that brought you Ride of Silence, we now have Critical Mass.

"Critical Mass is a bicycling event held on the last Friday of every month in over 300 cities around the world. The idea of the ride is to draw attention to how unfriendly the city are to cyclists. The purpose of Critical Mass is not formalized beyond the direct action of meeting at a set location and time and travelling as a group through city or town streets on bikes."

The main problem I have with this is that its a self-fulfilling prophecy. Drivers are already not that tolerant ot cyclists, so you piss them off even more by blocking the roads? Im pretty sure that will make pple unfriendly. Especially when you do things like this:

I sincerely hope that this does not happen during Critical Mass Singapore.
I once heard someone say: "Never underestimate the power of stupid pple in big groups". Which I found to be true.
Its like how zombies always win when in a horde.

Anyway, here's the URL for more info:

Read up and make your own decision.

  1. I can't see it would make motorists' attitude towards cyclists any worse than it is. Nothing to loose.

  2. the attitude of motorists may not get any worse, but it would give them justification for their poor attitude.
